IS THIS, LIKE, REAL RACING?
Yeah, it’s pretty close. That said, you’re not going to set any speed records. It’s kinda like a loud, hot, noisy version of driving to work… for a really, really long time… without actually getting anywhere. And it’s a lot harder to drink coffee through the helmet. Oh, and, it’s more exciting.
IS IT SAFE?
It has to be! Read the “Rules and Regs” – you’ll see we are FIRM ON SAFETY. Safety equipment isn’t included in the $999 car-purchase price, so get the good gear as it will last you years and years and you know you are as safe as you can be.
DO I HAVE TO BE A RACE-DRIVER TO COMPETE?
While these are wheel-to-wheel track events, competitors include total non-racers, amateur racers, and pros – we welcome all.
WHAT IF I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I’M DOING?
Neither do we!! Don’t sweat it – most others have not done this either, so be cool and ease into things. It’s just like driving in Bangkok, but without the horns… or mopeds… or lady-boys…
WHADDABOUT BUMPIN’ AND DRAFTIN’ AND ALL THAT THERE HILLBILLY STUFF?
While some minor incidental contact may occur, poor driving, lack of car control, intentional contact, chopping, and bumping are subject to punishment by pit penalties, tarring & feathering (honest) and/or expulsion. You sure-do got a purdy mouth tho’ Cleatus…
DO I NEED TO RUN THE WHOLE RACE?
It ain’t like we’re going to haul you out of bed Sunday morning – hung. You can run as much or as little of the race as you want. The reason you have a team is to give you and your friends a go at real racing. It is taxing and a hell of a lot of fun for the weekend. It is a very social event, and you’ll be amazed at how many people (who probably have as little a clue as you do) will come to your aid to fix something… WHEN it goes wrong!
DO I NEED TO DRAG THE PATHETIC HEAP HOME AGAIN?
Take your crap home with you and get it ready for the next race. If your car did the job and made it, repeat the first sentence! Most teams find that their Lemon can be used for many events – including other non-Lemony races, hill-climbs, bent sprints and track days – after all, it is ‘race-ready’ (log book included) and so are YOU!
